Humber-talking has set our priorities, this month we are to:
- Preventing Theft
We are aware of concerns regarding Thefts in the ward area.
Action:
We have been working hard to provide support and guidance to prevent further offences whether it occurs on the forecourt or the garden, whilst completing enquiries to identify and tackle those responsible. We will be completing regular patrols in the areas of concern.
If anybody has information about those responsible for these types of offences, then please contact us through the 101 number or alternatively, by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers (0800 555 111).
- Reduce ASB, Criminal damage and Arson
We regularly deploy high visibility patrols to our communities in response to reports of criminal damage, drug dealing and anti-social behaviour involving scrambler bikes and mopeds.
The local policing team have also had productive meetings with partners from East Riding Council, Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Watch groups to listen to community concerns.
We understand how distressing acts of mindless vandalism in our parks and green spaces can be and I want to reassure the community in Mid Holderness that we take a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social and criminal behaviour.
Our officers are also committed to eradicating the harm that the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes cause to the communities through our Operation Yellowfin.
Action - As we enter summer, members of the Holderness Policing Team will conduct regular high-visibility patrols and partnership working is ongoing to make sure that Holderness is a green space for everyone to enjoy as we head into the summer months.
Rest assured, where we receive reports of anti-social and criminal behaviour, we will not hesitate to take action. If you witness any such behaviour in your community, please let us know so we can respond, target patrols to the relevant areas and stop criminals in their tracks.
Anyone who wishes to report anti-social or criminal behaviour can contact The Police on 101 or East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 01482 393939
How you can help
Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team appreciates the importance of being in the right place, at the right time, for the right reasons to reassure the public, improve public confidence and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the area in which we all live and work.
We encourage all residents to call and report any issues where they live so that we can deal with any issues and step up our patrols in that area.
If you feel that there are other issues affecting you or your local community that should be given priority, please inform your local councillors or your Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Domestic Abuse evolves overtime – could you or a loved one be a victim?
Domestic abuse takes shape in many forms and without realising, you, your friend, your family member, or your colleague could be a victim of domestic abuse, whether that be at the hands of a partner or even a relative.
Detective Inspector Helen Collier from our Domestic Abuse Safeguarding Investigation Team said: “Quite often abuse goes unreported as members of our community are unaware that they are in fact a victim of domestic abuse.
“The sad reality for a lot of people is that abuse evolves overtime becoming progressively worse, stripping victims of their confidence and identity, making the abuse they are suffering just an everyday norm and that is not okay.
“Each case of domestic abuse is unique and comes in many forms, whether that be physical, psychological, emotional, financial abuse, or a mixture of all of them.
“We have had victims who have started in what appears to be a loving relationships with their partner, for them to then become increasingly controlling over who they are in communication with, whether that be over text message or who they are interacting with on social media.
“It then gradually becomes a normal expectation for the victim to provide justification and reason for everything they do and everyone they talk to online to their partner. This can cause them to withdraw from using their phone or interact with loved ones out of fear for what the consequences will be.
“In cases like this, the offending tends to escalate with perpetrators controlling other aspects of the victim’s life. This can include telling the victim what they can wear and when they are allowed to wear it, usually then coupled with who they can socialise with and when and where they can and cannot go causing the victim to feel more and more isolated.
“It is really important for victims to know that you can experience one or all of these signs of domestic abuse even just once, and it isn’t okay. There is never an excuse for this behaviour, and even if it does happen just once, you can come to us whether that is to report it or for additional support.”
We take all incidents extremely seriously and we would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim or witnessed domestic abuse, in any form, to contact us as soon as possible. To report domestic abuse call us on 101 or if you’re in immediate danger, always call us on 999.
You can find out more about the different types of domestic abuse and the support networks available by visiting our campaign page.
Do you know anyone aged 10 – 18 and looking for a way to spend your summer with friends making a difference to others in your community?
If so, then we have an initiative that is perfect, and there is still time to sign-up!
Our Lifestyle scheme is back for 2024 and we can’t wait to see what our teams do this year as their community projects.
Running for over 30 years now, the scheme encourages young people to join together as a team in their summer holidays and take part in a project of their choice that will help benefit their community in some way.
Over the years we have seen some absolutely fantastic projects, from raising money for a defibrillator, to cleaning up public spaces, to encouraging small acts of kindness to brighten someone’s day – our Lifestylers have done some incredible things for our local area.
Last year alone, our Lifestyle teams volunteered over 4,000 hours of their own time and raised over £16,000 for local charities through a range of projects, including community litter picks, creating community gardens with access to wheelchair friendly open spaces and collecting for food banks.
There are also a host of fantastic prizes on offer for those who undertake the most creative and successful projects. These include an amazing trip away to adventure holidays within the UK, as well as day passes to theme parks and other attractions!
Our winners from last year, The Garden Rescuers and Cherry Champions, recently visited Mount Cook as a part of their prize! The teams had the opportunity to take part in a huge range of outdoor activities and learn a variety of new skills, including raft building, abseiling and archery. After a long day of activities they then got to kick back with special evening events, such as team games, campfires and a disco.
Community Safety Sergeant Nick Bunker said: “Lifestyle is a really important project and every year we are so proud to see the impact that the teams have on their local community.
“The innovative and creative ideas and projects that our teams have completed over the years have been truly inspiring and I am excited to see what our teams achieve this year.
Keep an eye out for your local PCSOs who will be attending schools with registration forms! Be sure to follow @HP_LifestyleYET on Twitter and Humberside Police Youth Engagement on Facebook for updates about Lifestyle 2024.
