Matters arising from the minutes
Highway issues - The Clerk reported that he had forwarded images of the overgrown hedgerow on Lowfield Lane to ERYC together with a reminder and that the response stated that site had been attended and that some of the vegetation may be maintained by ERYC Grounds and if so to cut it back and to advise of any that is not attended to.
Cllr Mattinson reported that he had a positive meeting with representatives of SSE on the company's land to explore the possibility of providing grilles to help alleviate future flooding on the B1242 and the Clerk advised that ERYC had been in contact with the company recommending that providing grilles would undoubtedly be of benefit and that it was understood that the company would be progressing with a proposed scheme shortly.
A reply from the ERYC Area Engineer stated that his inspector could not locate a pothole near Field View but that a further inspection would be undertaken and that any issues would be attended to and the Clerk advised that he had since been notified that two potholes had now been identified for remedial works. An inspection of the over-run of grass verges on Humbleton Road found that ERYC's intervention levels were not met for action.
With regard to potential carriageway patching on the worst sections of Fitling Lane this should be done this financial year avoiding harvest season.
Proposed First Aid courses - The Clerk reported that provisional arrangements had now been made for the two advanced courses to take place on 25th September and 2nd October both commencing at 7pm at Aldbrough Village Hall.
Garton Show - It was reported that the show held on the 29th June had been a tremendous success with the organisers putting on a superb event which was highly attended and funds raised for worthy causes and that it was hoped to hold the show next year.
Planning

- 25/01142/PLB
It was reported that the above application had been withdrawn reasons for which the Clerk fully explained and that the 25/01140/PLF application in respect of the site was still awaiting a decision although it was noted that the Conservation Officer had objected to the application.
SSE Community Liaison Group
A report of the CLG meeting on the 19th June was given at which it was confirmed that additional screening had been provided to lessen the view of the site from Bail View Farm.
It was also reported that the Pathfinder project had been shortlisted for Hydrogen Allocation round 2 with a decision expected by the end of the year and that relevant to the Hydrogen Storage scheme seismic surveys were now scheduled for 2026.

Notification was received from ERYC of one deletion to the register of electors.

Any other business
Proposed flower bed at Grimston nameplate - Cllr Clappison reported that the contractor had advised that it was not possible to provide the amenity as it would be too near the ditch and the carriageway which the Council noted.
Bench in Grimston - It was reported that the bench was in a poor state and unusable and Cllr Clappison agreed to contact Marshalls to enquire if the company would kindly supply a new bench as the original one was donated by the previous company on site in the village.
Highway issues - It was agreed to refer a gully which required servicing on Humbleton Road to ERYC and Cllr Nendick agreed to contact Mr Bantin to ask him to consider relocating some packaged bales on his land that were possibly causing visual problems for highway users on Aldbrough Road.
Next meeting - The next meeting to be held at Aldbrough Village Hall on the B1242 on Tuesday 5th August 2025 at 7.30pm unless otherwise advised.
