Matters arising from the minutes
Highway issues - It was reported that ERYC Technical had advised that a reply was still awaited from its Grounds section regarding the overgrown hedge on Lowfield Lane in Fitling and that a reminder had been issued requesting that the matter be expedited as soon as possible.
It was reported that ERYC Highways had confirmed that details of a company which manufactured and supplied grilles had been passed on to Rachel Fox at SSE together with those of a local company which installed them relevant to future flood prevention on the B1242/Back Lane and an update on any progress was awaited from the company.
Cllr Clappison reported that Marshalls had agreed to provide a new bench in Grimston to replace the existing one which was dilapidated and unuseable.
It was reported that ERYC had inspected the gully on Humbleton Road that was not serviced on the recent visit and found to be working with no obstructions and that it would be added to the list for attention next year and suitably marked when attended to.
Proposed First Aid courses - It was reported that the two advanced courses had now been scheduled for the 2nd and 9th October both commencing at 7pm at Aldbrough Village Hall and that there was just one place available for anyone interested in participating in the courses.
Planning
Construction of a general parking area (retrospective) and change of use of a stable to a holiday let at land and building west of Brimahar Lowfield Lane Fitling 25/01414/PLF
It was agreed that no objections be made to the application.
Erection of single storey extension to rear at Crawshaw Farm Annexe Westfield Lane Fitling
- 25/01140/PLF
It was reported that ERYC had refused the above application.
SSE Community Liaison Group
A question was raised regarding the air zone for use by aircraft in relation to the SSE site.
Correspondence
It was reported that the Clerk had previously circulated the latest Police newsletter to members.
Council What's App review
Discussion ensued on the matter and it was agreed that moving forward the Council What's App group will revert to its original intent of posting by Councillors only ie. agendas, minutes etc as there are other alternative social media outlets for any other public posts which adequately serve the local community.
Neighbourhood Watch/Farmwatch
It was reported that there had been no reports of any incidents within the parish of late.
Financial matters
It was reported that the bank balance was currently £9,964.72
Any other business
Proposed SSE funding application requests - It was agreed to enquire of SSE if funding could be granted for the provision of disabled access to St Michael's Wood bridge, the path is apparently disabled friendly but disabled people cannot access it and also for the provision of a litter bin on Fitling Lane between Westfield Holiday Park and Humbleton Road bearing in mind that some of the land is privately owned by adjacent residents and the holiday park.
The majority of rubbish in Fitling Lane is caused by the dustbin lorries losing their loads and not by passing motorists discarding rubbish in the lane.
Next meeting - The next meeting to be held at Aldbrough Village Hall on the B1242 on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 at 7.30pm unless otherwise advised.
