Humber-talking has set our priorities, this month we are to:
- Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
We regularly deploy high visibility patrols to our communities in response to reports of criminal damage, drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

The local policing team have also had productive meetings with partners from East Riding Council, Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Watch groups to listen to community concerns.
Our officers are also committed to eradicating the harm that the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes cause to the communities through our Operation Yellowfin.
Action – aims to:
- Protect vulnerable residents
- Restore community confidence and create a safer environment
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of a partnership approach between with local partners.
Intended outcome:
- Reduce the number of ASB reports
- Increase residents’ confidence and feeling of safety
Anyone who wishes to report anti-social or criminal behaviour can contact The Police on 101 or East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 01482 393939
- Improve Road Safety – around our schools.
As with most other areas, road safety is something in which we can improve upon in our rural communities. Action –
- As we enter the spring months, members of the Holderness Policing Team will continue to be out and about policing our roads to promote safe behaviour and enforcement of traffic laws.
- Officers will continue to support Bilton & Aldbrough Primary Schools to reduce traffic in the villages and encourage families to walk or cycle to school.
Intended outcome:
The intended outcomes are to:
- Education & awareness campaigns to reduce the number of casualties on our roads.
- Create a culture of road safety where individuals understand and practices safe behaviours.

With the return of all children to our primary schools after the Easter Holiday, the Community Team will be conducting patrols around the schools making sure that the roads are safe for everyone especial for our young members outside the schools’ gates.
OPERATION SNAP is a secure online platform that allows you to submit video evidence of driving offences that you or other members of the public have witnessed. Its purpose is to improve road safety and to prosecute those that place others at risk. The service has been produced with the support of the Department for Transport.
The online service allows us to effectively deal with the footage recorded by members of the public in a safe and secure way, whilst making the investigation process simple and straightforward. We have a determined and robust approach to policing the roads and we’ll take every opportunity to make them safer for everyone.
This portal can only be used for driving offences, it is not for submitting footage of Road Traffic Collisions or public order offences, and is not for reporting crime.
It’s easy for people to engage in Operation Snap and processes have been designed to run smoothly. Operation Snap is not asking you to go out and detect offences for us, but we will deal with any you find.
Operation Snap has one desired outcome: making our roads safer.
How you can help
Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team appreciates the importance of being in the right place, at the right time, for the right reasons to reassure the public, improve public confidence and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the area in which we all live and work.
We encourage all residents to call and report any issues where they live so that we can deal with any issues and step up our patrols in that area.
If you feel that there are other issues affecting you or your local community that should be given priority, please inform your local councillors or your Neighbourhood Policing Team.

SHEDUCATION
At this time of year when spring arrives and the clocks spring forward, Burglaries of sheds and garages usually start growing! The police together with Neighbourhood Watch Groups are asking for your help. The value of property in sheds and garages is more than people think. Thieves are targeting them for power tools, cycles, and sports equipment. Hand tools are stolen and used to break into homes.

Let’s weed out these thieves by getting some sheducation!
Secure the access to your shed or garage by locking gates and using thorny bushes.
Have you visibly marked the contents of your shed? Note of serial numbers, take photos.
External security lights which are activated by movement are a useful deterrent.
Doors of sheds require attention. Use strong hasp/staples and close shackled padlocks.
Use coach bolts or non-return screws to secure door hinges.
Chain cycles, mowers, ladders and tools to a strong anchorage point.
Alarms for sheds and garages are available for under £20 at most DIY stores.
Together we’ll crack crime. Join a home watch scheme.
Exactly what insurance cover do you have?
Check that your household policy covers you for theft from your garden and outbuildings.
Follow the Countryside Code

We are working with the Natural England and NFU National Farming Union to promote respect in the countryside. This new look Countryside Code will help to engage with walkers and everyone who visits and enjoys our farmed environment, and it’s important that people follow the simple rules and respect the countryside around them.

Enjoy our countryside and make it safe for everyone.

Even small outdoor fires can be dangerous, because they place additional stress on our limited resources – dealing with a nuisance fire affects our ability to respond to more serious incidents like house fires or road traffic accidents. Tell us what you know, 100% anonymously:
