Regarding the pothole issue near a drain on Aldbrough Road raised by a member of the public at the last meeting the Clerk reported that he had received earlier in the day from the resident images of the issue which he had forwarded to ERYC for attention.

Another member of the public referred to several potholes in Lowfield Lane, Westfield Lane and Longbrough Lane in Fitling which the Clerk confirmed would be referred to ERYC.

Minutes of the meeting held on the 2nd December 2025

These were agreed as a true record and signed by the Chair.

Matters arising from the minutes

SSE Community Investment Fund - The Clerk reported that he had been notified that the Fund Panel had approved the Council's application for funding of £240.00 for the provision of seasonal bedding plants.

Dyke at Back Lane - Cllr Mattinson reported that he had not heard further from ERYC in relation to the pipework connections in the dyke and that presently the system was coping adequately with the water flow in the system.

Planning

There were no new applications or decisions for consideration by the Council.

SSE Community Liaison Group

It was reported that SSE was holding a coffee afternoon at East Village Meadows on the 5th February from 2pm to 7pm where members of the public could drop in to discuss with the development team the proposed Hydrogen Storage project and that the CLG meeting would be taking place on the same date.

Correspondence

The Clerk reported that he had previously circulated the latest Police newsletter.

Neighbourhood Watch/Farmwatch

It was reported that there had been no reports of any incidents within the parish of late.

Financial matters

It was reported that the bank balance was currently £6,800.66.

Defibrillators

The Chair reported that she had been advised by Rupal North that she would be unable to continue as a guardian and that last year she had recruited Cllrs Dee and Nendick to become guardians for their respective defibrillators and that the units should be checked every three months with the website updated which links to Yorkshire Ambulance Service. Mrs North had also advised that a problem with the battery pack sent from the manufacturer to check pins was required and that the adult pass should be ok until next year and the paediatric pass until springtime.

Cllr Mattinson confirmed that he was guardian of the Garton unit and that the pins had also been checked.

Any other business

Flooding in Fitling Lane - Following Cllr Nendick contacting the Clerk in the matter it was reported that the issue had been referred to three departments within ERYC and a reply from the Area Engineer stated that it was considered that the incident was primarily caused by significant volumes of water running off the neighbouring fields and settling on the lower level of the carriageway and that some jetting works of the surface water system on Fitling Lane would take place in the coming financial year which should benefit from the surface water system being jetted and cleared.

Cllr Nendick suggested that kerbing works around the gullies could help protect them from debris entering the drainage system.

Potholes - It was agreed to refer potholes in Back Lane and Grimston Lane to ERYC for attention.

Next meeting - The next meeting to be held at Aldbrough Village Hall on the B1242 on Tuesday 3rd March 2026 at 7.30pm unless otherwise advised.
