The Parish Council comprises of the Holderness villages of Fitling, Garton and Grimston.
MINUTES OF THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 2nd JUNE 2026
PRESENT: Cllrs H Teasdale - Chair, V Clappison, A Crawforth, D Dee, J Harvey, S Mattinson and A Nendick.
There were no apologies for absence as all members were in attendance.
Consideration of Councillor’s declaration of interests
There were no changes declared by members to the register of interests.
Public session
The lady owner of the Blue Mill site in Garton expressed her concerns regarding the situation with the ongoing paramotor activity at the site and the objections which had been made and which were apparently still continuing and that she and her son were concerned at some of the negativity surrounding the activity and emphasised her reactions to the ongoing publicity and that correspondence with ERYC had taken place and was continuing to hopefully reach an eventual conclusion.

These were agreed as a true record and signed by the Chair subject to the deletion of the first paragraph of the public session minutes.
Matters arising from the minutes
Highway issues - It was reported that the damaged/leaning sign on Aldbrough Road had now been straightened and repositioned and that the tree trunk had now been removed from the grass verge on Grimston Lane near Church Farm.
Defibrillators - The Clerk reported that he was in the process of submitting an application for funding to the SSE Community Fund towards the cost of the three defibrillators from Defib Space and that he understood that the Fund Panel would be meeting week commencing 13th July to consider the application.
Planning
There were no new applications or decisions for consideration by the Council.
SSE Community Liaison Group
As the originally scheduled CLG meeting of the 28th May had been re-scheduled to the 4th June there were no updates to report on the Hydrogen Pathfinder, Hydrogen Storage and Humber Hydrogen Pipeline projects.
Correspondence
The Clerk reported that he had previously circulated three reports received of paramotor activity at Blue Mill, together with an update from Ward Cllr Christon-Whyte regarding her Teams meeting with Yorkshire Ambulance Service on defibrillator issues and a response she had received from SSE to questions she had raised relevant to the Hydrogen Storage scheme, details of the ERYC Planning liaison meetings on 16th and 18th June, temporary closure of Back Lane on 9th July to install ducting for BDUK fibre net and the latest edition of the Police newsletter.
Neighbourhood Watch/Farmwatch
It was reported that there had been no reports of any incidents within the parish of late.
Financial matters
It was reported that the bank balance was currently £10,339.13.
Any other business
Garton WWTW - It was agreed to refer overgrown vegetation and weeds on the site to ERYC for attention once Cllr Mattinson supplies appropriate images to the Clerk for onward transmission to that Authority.
Highway issues - It was agreed to refer an overgrown hedgerow on the roadside on Grimston Lane near the Old Vicarage to ERYC for attention and surface cracking on Grimston Lane at its junction with the B1242 for further inspection.
School House in Grimston - It was agreed to enquire of ERYC if planning permission was required for development which had taken place within the grounds of the property.
Next meeting - The next meeting to be held at Aldbrough Village Hall on the B1242 on Tuesday 7th July 2026 at 7.30pm unless otherwise advised.
